2 Weeks (August 14th) —> 86 The Birectifier

Follow along: IG @birectifier

There are only two more weeks (until 8/14) to order your birectifier before this tool disappears for likely a 2 years minimum. I have come and gone as the glassblower for the distilling industry. And I sold just enough to break even on an insane equipment investment!

The student birectifier ($625) is available for distillers in the U.S. only. (e-Commerce link).

The “travel” birectifier  ($900) is available for international shipment. (e-Commerce link). The travel birectifier has a detachable dephlegmator coil so Customs cannot easily break it (and a spare matched coil).

Domestic shipping is $30.

International shipping starts with a $100 charge and then additional shipping via DHL is assessed later. If you want to create your own estimate, the boxes are 26″x 10″x 10″ (66cm x 25 cm x 25 cm) and the weight is 5.0 kg. I will not ship anywhere the shipping cost exceeds $400 USD.

A few people have used forwarding services to reach their country and one person shipped it within America where a colleague put it on plane to the Philipines. If you are in literal Borneo, it is just not meant to be…

This project came and went. Only the coolest people showed up! We honored Karl Micko, Rafael Arroyo, and Professors Luckow & Wustenfeld. This was a lost design covered from an old German book. When I took over my own production, I tried to be extremely competitive; $625 is considered insane, but we needed a community of users. Trade publications never showed up. No one actually covered it. I went from merely making available a design contract produced on demand with a master glass blower to being my own glassblower. My future in Portugal is mainly a return to cocktails.

The future of glass production in Portugal is not certain. Our project is stressed by the collapse of the U.S. dollar against the Euro, so I cannot restart my workshop immediately. I was also advised to only produce spirit bubbles and cocktail glasses in the future and simply my life. A few friends further advised me to buy a Kayak and not waste any time with glass. I may split the difference and only offer birectifiers & clevengers to people that visit the Algarve; cash & carry.
